About
Mission Statement
Building robots for space.
I'm an Assembly & Robotics Engineer at Space Solar, building the robotics for the in-space assembly of space-based solar power. I recently completed my MSc in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the University of Bath, and my research interest is in decentralised control for multi-robot systems, with an eye toward in-space assembly and on-orbit servicing.
Space robotics - autonomous systems that can operate in orbit and on planetary surfaces - is the thread through everything I do, from my academic research to the projects I take on. Now I get to build it.
Background
I combine hands-on industry experience with academic research. At Polar Instruments, I built test electronics and Python tooling for their PCB testing line. At Vapormatt, I contributed to R&D on surface-finishing machines and test-rig development. These experiences gave me practical insight into how robust, reliable systems are actually built.
During my MSc I was Technical Lead for the robotic arm subsystem on Team Bath Roving, competing in the European Rover Challenge, delivering a 6-DoF manipulator subsystem and a reusable base for the team's next competition cycle. It combined my interests in manipulation, autonomous systems, and space exploration.
Research Focus
My work centres on multi-robot coordination - how teams of robots can work together on complex tasks without centralised control, the kind of coordination that in-space assembly and on-orbit servicing will need. Key areas include:
- Distributed auction-based task allocation
- Decentralised control architectures
- Multi-agent systems for construction tasks
- Fault-tolerant coordination under communication constraints
